All foreign nationals (Except Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders) entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad. India does not have a specific "dental tourism visa" category. However, individuals seeking dental treatment in India can apply for a medical visa to cover their travel for medical purposes, including dental procedures.
Indian e-visa
You do not need to apply for a regular Visa if you intend to visit for tourism, business, or medical visits. The Indian e-visa is for a shorter period of stay, and the validity of the e-Visa will be 60 days from the date of arrival in India. The application process for an India e-Visa is entirely online, and all documents, including the photograph, must be uploaded digitally. The India e-Visa is currently available to citizens of nearly 175 countries. You should apply for the Medical Visa for India at least 4-7 days in advance of your flight or date of entry into the country.
in order to start the application process for the Indian Visa you need to have the following documents
- An electronic or scanned copy of the first (biographical) page of the visitor’s passport, which must be the standard Passport, and which must remain valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into India. (You should make sure your passport has two blank pages for the Immigration Officer to stamp at the airport.)
- A copy of the visitor’s recent passport-style colour photo (Read the blog article "Indian eVisa Photo Requirements" for optimal image specification )
- A working email address
- A copy of a letter from the Indian Hospital the visitor would be seeking treatment from (the letter would have to be written on the Official Letterhead of the Hospital).
- A debit card or a credit card for the payment of the application fees.
- A return or onward ticket out of the country.
If you are visiting India as a family member accompanying a patient who is coming to India for medical treatment at a hospital in India, apart from the required general Indian visa documents, you also need certain documents specific to the medical attendant. This includes, the name of the patient who must be the holder of the Medical Visa, the Indian e-Visa number or the Application ID of the Medical Visa holder, details such as the Passport Number of the Medical Visa holder, the date of birth of the Medical Visa holder, and the Nationality of the Medical Visa holder.
